SO, WHAT'S GOING ON?

“So, What’s going on?” is an appreciative inquiry project commissioned by the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand. The aim was to gain insights into how the involved public stay well, and the questions, concerns and experiences they have had surrounding mental health, and mental illness. The insights gained would present the Mental Health foundation and its stakeholders with feedback about their existing resources and services, and about what is lacking, or could be changed in terms of the Mental Health support they can provide. The project was carried out as a ‘busking’ event, where local artists performed as a Koha in exchange for the public speaking to us about their experiences with mental health and mental illness. A series of question cards were created for the project, each one containing a question relating to Mental health and mental illness. Each was pointing towards insights that could be used to review and transform Mental Health services. The tone of voice was inquisitive and casual, as we wanted to avoid sounding survey-like, but rather encourage storytelling through the metaphor of a journey.
